Welcome to Yoga Therapy

Reconnect with Your Body. Restore Balance. Awaken Inner Awareness.
Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy | Body, Mind & Energy | Yoga Nidra

Our bodies carry the stories of our lives. Experiences of stress, trauma, emotional challenges and the demands of everyday living can influence how we feel, move, breathe and relate to ourselves.
Sometimes these experiences may show up as physical tension, fatigue, disturbed sleep, emotional overwhelm, anxiety or a sense of disconnection from the body.

At Aurora Spring, yoga therapy offers a gentle, compassionate and holistic approach to wellbeing through the interconnected dimensions of body, mind and energy.

Rooted in traditional yogic wisdom and informed by contemporary understanding of stress and mind-body practices, our approach brings together therapeutic movement, conscious breathing, meditation, deep relaxation and self-awareness.

We recognise that every person has unique experiences, needs and rhythms. Rather than forcing change, we create space for listening, exploring and reconnecting. Yoga therapy is not about achieving the perfect posture. It is about developing a relationship with your body built on awareness, compassion and trust.

Whether you are navigating the effects of trauma, experiencing ongoing stress, seeking emotional balance or wishing to deepen your connection with yourself, you are welcome to begin wherever you are.
An invitation to listen to your body, honour your experiences and rediscover your inner
resources.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

Trauma and prolonged stress can affect how we experience safety, connection, movement, rest and everyday life. Some people notice persistent tension, heightened alertness, exhaustion, difficulty relaxing or disconnection from bodily sensations.

Trauma-informed yoga therapy acknowledges these experiences without requiring you to revisit or disclose your personal history. Through gentle movement, grounding, breath awareness, mindful attention and restorative practices, we explore ways to support:
•  Body awareness and a sense of connection
•  Relaxation and greater awareness of nervous-system responses
•  Emotional awareness, self-compassion and resilience
•  Choice, agency and personal boundaries
•  Ways to respond to everyday stress and tension.

Our approach emphasises choice, collaboration, respect and sensitivity to individual needs. You can adapt, pause or rest whenever you need. Your body sets the pace. Your experience matters.

Restoring Balance in Body, Mind and Energy

Yoga understands wellbeing as an interconnected experience involving our physical body, thoughts, emotions, breath and vital energy. Aurora Spring honours this holistic perspective while drawing on contemporary knowledge of stress physiology and mind-body wellbeing.

Body — Movement and Awareness. Gentle therapeutic movement, mindful postures and body
awareness invite exploration of tension, mobility, stability and comfort.

Mind — Clarity and Emotional Balance. Meditation, mindfulness and reflection encourage awareness of thoughts and emotions, with room for self-compassion.

Nervous System — Regulation and Rest. Grounding, gentle breathing and restorative techniques may support relaxation and awareness of our responses to stress.

Energy — Vitality and Inner Harmony. Traditional yoga describes subtle energy through prana and the chakras. These are traditional and reflective frameworks for exploring vitality, emotions and personal growth, rather than medically established diagnostic systems.

By bringing these dimensions together, yoga therapy invites us to explore ourselves as a whole rather than as separate symptoms or challenges.

Yoga Nidra — The Science and Wisdom of Deep Rest

Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep”, is a guided meditative practice that encourages physical relaxation alongside conscious awareness. Usually practised lying down or in another comfortable supported position, it does not require flexibility, physical effort or previous yoga experience.

A practice may include body awareness, observation of breathing, guided imagery and meditation.

Within yogic traditions, Yoga Nidra offers a pathway towards inner stillness, self-awareness and a deeper relationship with consciousness.

A growing body of research suggests Yoga Nidra may help reduce perceived stress and anxiety and
may support sleep and psychological wellbeing. The findings are promising, but study quality and
methods vary, and further high-quality research is needed. Yoga Nidra is not a standalone treatment
for trauma or mental health conditions.

At Aurora Spring, Yoga Nidra is offered with a trauma-informed approach. You may keep your eyes open, choose a different position, move, pause or opt out of any part of the practice. Rest is not something you have to achieve; it is something you can gently explore.
